It's not so much that, I think I would find it almost impossible to write something that accurately reflected the divide between officers and men and I would also really struggle to write Matthews' Yorkshire speech patterns which are so integral to his character. I keep looking for a way to bypass those two problems. eglantine_br did a good job of capturing Matthew's voice in one of her fics.
