What an amazing thing! Though I confess I am a little bit :( there are no teeny-tiny little Navyboys here too. I think I want one for Christmas :)

The model is described as follows:
Scale: 1:576. Topographic scenic model of the Royal Dockyard at Deptford, London (circa 1774). This model is one of a set six commissioned by Lord Sandwich for George III in 1773-74, showing the Royal Dockyards as they were at the time. As with all six of these models (Chatham, Deptford, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Sheerness and Woolwich), ships of various sizes are shown at the different stages of construction ranging from just a keel through to a ship on the slipway ready for launching. These models are also extremely accurate and detailed and illustrate all the different processes, materials and buildings within the dockyards that are required to build and maintain the fighting warship.
What an amazing thing! Though I confess I am a little bit :( there are no teeny-tiny little Navyboys here too. I think I want one for Christmas :)

Date: 2011-12-02 09:21 pm (UTC)Hmmm... now I think there was someone else on my flist who lived near Mystic too. Blowed if I can remember who it is though. The dockyard I would really love to visit is Bucklers Hard where the Indy was built.
The music is The British Grenadiers March and I do believe you're right that it is one of the marches that accompanies Major M'Lord Edrington's 95th Foot.
