However rather than boring the pants off you with the petty vindictiveness and duplicity of university senior managers, allow me to show you my new HANDBAG! I am not normally a handbag kinda gal but I saw this one and had to have it. Do you think it's me?

Date: 2011-12-21 01:11 am (UTC)Someday I'll have to take a photo of the toy ship I made when my kid was three -- there was a boat-sailing competition at preschool, and we thought we could do a bit better than drinking straws and paper plates. Styrofoam hull, metal keel made from part of a bookend, chopsticks for masts and bamboo skewers for spars, cloth sails and rigging made from button and carpet thread -- and I sat there tying the lines with the frontispiece of "Master and Commander" open in front of me so they'd all go in the right places.
I am not sure whether we were the most overachieving ones, or the family that brought in the aircraft carrier... but the kid has saved the toy ship all these years.
Somewhere I've got the photo taken back then, too.
