Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas however you choose to celebrate it. Hope Santa is good to you all!

PS I took this picture last December, this year we have 10°C and horizontal rain!

Very pretty! We have exasperatingly high temperatures, too, but with last winter in mind, I'm not complaining (too much), useless reindeer scarf or not… ;)

The high temperatures are certainly a change from last year! Daughter is somewhat bemused by the fact that it is Christmas but there is no snow. We have had a white Christmas for the last two years and she can't remember much beyond that!

Hehe, that's cute! For as long as she can remember… :D

Having spent the first six Christmasses of my life in Fairbanks Alaska, it was strangely discomforting to spend the next in the Seattle/Puget Sound area with nothing but rain and clouds. Sure didn't seem like Christmas to me.

BTW we did get just enough snow the morning of the 24th so that this year qualifies as a White Christmas. It was comparatively warm while snowing. Flakes were colliding and sticking together as they fell. I'd swear they were the size of saucers!

Wow! I guess you must have got used to white Christmases up there!

Sounds magical!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and every sort of good cheer! Thank you for running this community - it's been a joy to me in the short time since Eglantine brought me here.

As lovely as that picture is (look at the direction of the ice crystals on the fence!) I'm very glad our weather isn't like that this year. Last year we had multiple snowstorms of a foot or more; we wound up with a permanent two-foot snow cover because so little of it melted in between storms. This year it's only snowed ONCE, and that was at the end of October (causing an enormous power outage that lasted more than a week, but that's another story). It's not as pretty out there, but it saves on shoveling.

Aww thank you sweetie! Glad you're enjoying the comm so much :) It's always a pleasure to have new members, especially ones who go to the lengths of baking period cakes!

Ditto the weather here! Last year's sub zero temperatures were almost unprecedented on the West Coast of Scotland. We very rarely have snow that lies for any length of time, the climate is far too maritime. Rain and gales are usually our lot for winter!

Anteros-- I started to say horizontal rain can be nice too! I must be infected with Christmas spirit-- what an idiot thing to say!

Still, rain can be all right-- if you have a chair and a nice book!

Definitely not an idiot thing to say! When I wrote that I was sitting in a warm snug house being very thankful that there was absolutely no reason for me to go outside at all! :)

Thank you! Everything looked magical in the snow last year. It was bloody freezing though!

Hope you're been having a lovely Christmas :)

What a beautiful photo, though I have to admit that I am not mourning the lack of snow here--we will make it up in the next few months. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

I can imagine! I remember that picture of the ice encrusted lighthouse you posted last year. Amazing!

I particularly liked the spiky frost on the railings. We very rarely get hard frost on the west coast so I'd never seen anything like that before!

ou did notice the little guy in frills on the cover, didn´t you? *squees*
To my shame, I wrapped the book without noticing the little frilly guy, so you'll just have to post a picture of him!

there was a rainbow, for crying out loud. While "White Christmas" was playing on the radio. I could almost *see* Saint Peter giving me the finger!
It's a conspiracy I tell ya!
