2011 was a very up and down year for me all in all, and it was definitely a case of taking the rough with the smooth. My mother suffered a very distressing illness which we struggled to cope with but when the end came she passed away peacefully with her family around her.
On the work front, the government started to dismantle the higher education sector, and the university is trying to close the department where I work, but my own contract is safe for the time being. One of my best members of staff is leaving in order to emigrate but we have another excellent replacement (hopefully) lined up.
Daughter started school and there has been no down side to that. She adores it and seems to be getting on really well.
There has also been no down side to fangirls who have been fabulous and inspiring all year :D Navyboys ditto ;) Thank you all for your kindess and support throughout the year.
