What a great dog. he must have loved all those sailors patting him and giving him treats.

Isn't he fabulous?! He's clearly exhausted by all the attention he's been getting. And look at that louche paw dangling elegantly over the edge of the bed.

Louche. Yes, Hazel does that too. (Can a girl be louche?)

Oh yes. Girls can definitely be louche. This fellow did rather remind me of Hazel when I came across him!

Don't you wish we could do genealogical research on ordinary dogs? We could find out how their ancestor dogs spent their time, and the cool things they did, and In the case of mutts like my Hazel we could find out what they looked like.

I always figured Hazel had an ancestor who came over on the Mayflower. (There was a dog on the Mayflower. A Newfie--as if they were not crowded enough! I imagine he must have shook in terror the whole time.)

Considering what a time eater human genealogy is-- I guess it is a blessing we can't know about dogs.

Oh yes. I know a chap who has a rescue greyhound and he claims to have a pedigree certificate that traces the dog's lineage back to the 11th century! How that is possible I have no idea!

Perhaps one of Hazel's ancestors might have been Basil Hall's Shakings?! :D
