Well seeing we've had a rather milder winter than last year!

Quite warm in the Pacific Northwest as well. Odd for this time of year.

Awww poor confused dandelions! Daughter used to get daffodils and dandelions mixed up and called them both daffielions :)

It had been predicted that we would have a rough winter, one with a lot of snow and cold temps. Still time for that to happen. A few years ago we didn't have much snow to speak of until the end of January.

I'm sure we haven't seen the back of winter yet. Usually if we do get snow it comes in January and sometimes even as late as March!

Tbh mild weather, rain and gales is much more typical for the west coast of Scotland than the sub zero temperatures we had last year. Though I suspect we'll have a couple of freezes before the winter is out.

I've seen blossoms on a few trees here, too. I hope they won't all die again if there's a frosty night sometime in January.

Aye, I think those primroses are being a little optimistic! I'm sure we'll have a good few hard frosts before the end of the month

Like I said above, mild weather and gales are much more typical winter weather for us. It's the Gulf Stream that does it! The long hard freeze we've had for the last couple of years was very unusual.

You are having the milder winter? Some of my Scottish friends(mostly living in Lothian) wrote to me about their very severe climate... maybe it's gone with the old year??

It's usually much colder on the east coast of Scotland than the west. We have the Gulf Stream to keep us "warm" (hence the abundance of palm trees at Culzean). I don't think there's been much snow on the east coast this year either, plenty of terrible gales though. Your friends in Lothian will have been really battered about!

I've been concerned for the flowers. Did they survive the recent frost? :)

Oh hello! How are you? :)

I've no idea if the flowers survived as I took this photo while we were staying at a hotel just after New Year. I suspect they did though, we've had a very mild winter here, no snow at all since before Christmas. Different story in England I believe though.

Yes, we've had it pretty hard for the last two weeks. I think a lot of overhasty flowers were caught by surprise.

I'm good. :) I was thinking of you earlier this evening, because I had dinner at a Nepalese restaurant and I had a chickpea/potato curry that tasted just like your "inauthentic thai curry"! There was no coconut milk in it, but fresh coriander leaves, which gave it the same distinctive flavour. Not that inauthentic after all! :D
