That was the week that was

Phew! Well that's the first week back at work over and done with and it's been a bit full on. It's been an exciting week though with nodbear and I having our paper on George Cadogan accepted for the New Researchers in Maritime History Conference. We were both chuffed to bits to have a paper accepted, but the real icing on the cake was all the very kind wishes from the following_sea fangirls. You guys are just the best. Sorry I haven't had a chance to reply to all the lovely comments individually, but please consider yourselves all thoroughly thanked and *squished*

Anyway, just when I was looking forward to getting home tonight and collapsing on the couch I got a call from partner saying that he had discovered damp behind one of our bookcases. Although it's extensive, it's also superficial and thankfully none of my books have been damaged. However we have had to empty half our living room so the house is now in complete chaos!

Never mind though, it's Friday and I haz wine and LJ, so all will be well with the world!

How scary to almost loose your books like that. I read once that you can save a wet book by putting it in the freezer. Never worked for me-- so good thing you will not have to resort to it!

Hehe! I'll remember the freezer trick and not bother trying it then! We've spent all day shifting books and furniture and have managed to get the damp patches more or less dried out. I'm knackered now though!
