Edwin Muir revealed as a Hornblower fanboy! I mean what else could that poem possibly refer to? It is perfect.

Birthday is quiet so far, day is just starting here. Very cold here, for the first time in forever.

I'm glad you like it, I though it was perfect too. I found this in a book of Muir's poetry I got nodbear for Christmas, it wasn't one I'd known before but it really struck me.

I'm about to start making dinner for a friend and her daughter who are coming to visit. We grew up together and shared a flat at uni but she now lived in New Jersey so I only see her once in a blue moon. Her husband's family have a house somewhere in the Vineyard I think. I will ask her where.

Hope you've been enjoying your birthday! I'm afraid I lied about my friend, she has spent time in the Vineyard but her FILs house is on an island closer to NY. I have also drunk wine and I have work tomorrow so I should probably go to bed now :} *birthday hugs*

Ooh, that leaves a lot of islands, for the friends FIL. Some real beauty too. Plum Island, Fisher's Island, even Block Island, (Where Captain Kidd was supposed to have hidden his treasure.)

My husband spent some summers on Block Island.

Sleep well. I have not listened to your pod yet. Busy house today. Tomorrow in the quiet, I will be able to really appreciate it. Can't wait.
