Date: 2012-04-24 05:04 am (UTC)I would have loved to have a real WWII RAF greatcoat. Those are an order of magnitude more expensive than my surplus-store German one. And Jack's coat did look blue in certain lights. So I just swapped out the buttons and bought epaulettes, and put on the stripes.
I like to think it worked!

I can just imagine Captain Jack flashing in a coat like that! Next time you wear yours you must take an action shot :P

Date: 2012-04-23 09:50 pm (UTC)Positively willowy! I wonder if he's the same chap that modelled the rather fetching zip-fronted jumper?
I like the trousers. I wish we could see Horatio in this uniform, it'd be most fetching.
Mmmmm...there's a thought. Do you think Horatio could master that inscrutable expression though?

Date: 2012-04-25 10:12 pm (UTC)D'you reckon? ;)
I do approve of the willowiness of the Admiralty's models.
Although I'm surprised they don't blow away in a stiff gust!

Date: 2012-04-25 10:27 pm (UTC)...Does he actually have feet under those trousers?
No. The Admiralty abolished feet in 1950 as you can see from this 1951 picture of Women's Royal Naval Service mess dress.

But the cane is a simple walking stick, no sword inside?
You'd have to challenge him to a duel to find out ;)

Date: 2012-04-25 10:36 pm (UTC)First class petty officer 1896. Caption as follows: "Frocks tucked into the top of the trousers were finally abolished in 1906."
Now ask yourself, why in heaven's name would the Admiralty abolish tucking in your jersey? Didn't they have more important things to worry about in 1906?!
