Oh yes. Archie and Horatio know all about working with idiots.
Archie and Horatio would be very sympathetic, I am sure. Especially if you shared the rum. That sounds like a fic prompt if ever I heard one!
The weekend has to be better than the week that has been. Sleep, that is my big luxurious plan. Sleep sounds like a good plan. You must need it too after your traumatic week. Hope everyone is getting over poor little Ajax.
Btw Belated thanks for the lovely postcard from the Vineyard. As one islander to another, I loved seeing your ferry!
been a dire week here too -other than on the navyboy front which has been excellent for a number of reasons.
but work, idiot bosses and the ever present government threat to take away the disability living allowance using under qualified assessors to judge things ...yesh it all adds up!
sorry to hear everyone else has been having a grim week too. maybe we can devise a Following Sea idiots at work award:
The Admiral Lord Bridport Award for idiocy and laziness at the top, for instance or the Admiral Colpoys award for never being there when you need them and so on
any further thoughts - maybe I will post this for general takers suggestions ...
Bridport and Colpoys were both mentioned in my book about Bligh. I would send you the Bligh book, but it is on my Kindle. It did not mention Pellew by name, in the part about Morrison. But it did recount his eventual death. (Morrison, not Pellew.)
There was a ship with a name like Inconstant... was it Inconstant? I was talking to Mike, and he said that was a terrible name for a Navy ship. He said it was like 'Go ahead, give me an order, maybe I'll be there and maybe I won't.'
He said that the Pickle sounded adorable, btw. And he had no problem with the Flirt!
Maybe the Idiots and and the lazy work-mates could be aboard the Inconstant? (If that was her name.)

Date: 2012-09-24 09:58 am (UTC)There was also a gun brig called Insolent which had previously been the French L'Arrogante!
I've always loved the Flirt. I hope she sailed in company with the Fairy and the Frolic :)
