Last year, before the tall ship Glenlee was moved to her new berth at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow, she underwent a major refit. I visited the ship not long after she moved and took lots of pictures, mostly below deck, and they've have been sitting on my desktop ever since. Last weekend I went to the annual Christmas Fair aboard the ship which reminded me to look out these pics and post them.

Tbh "Sail Room" is something of a misnomer! It would be more accurate to call it a sail rack :} You might manage to squeeze one midshipman in there but two would be unfeasible!

Those old sailing ships are sooooo beautiful!!!! I'm very fond of the first mate's bath room. And the medicin chest is awesome.
I second eglantine's thoughts about the sail room :) :) :)
Thanks for posting all these pictures.

Glenlee is a lovely ship. I'm very fond of her and it's lovely to see her fitted out like this now :)

The bathroom is splendid isn't it?! I quite fancy an ensuite bathroom like this :)

The saloon is rather splendid isn't it? Though I confess my favourite part of the ship is the hold ;)

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! And I want that bathtub.

Also, the word 'mizzenmast' on the mizzenmast made me laugh. Very practical for all of those who find it hard to remember the difference between a head and a halyard. ;-)

Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that was hilarious! I'm sure those stencils weren't there before they ship went for refit. They really made me laugh when I saw them :D

Reminds me of those signs you sometimes see that say 'This is a sign.'

Splendid to see these posted -they look good and I am proud to have seen the GLenlee and been aboard now

AS to labelling the masts - well indeed useful for the new and confused middy or landsmen i guess.

I would rather like an icon of a similar sign saying "mainmast " of course ;) but I assune there is not such a pic to be had

thank you for posting all these

Your wish is my command!

The Admiral writes:
My dear Anteros

I am most favourably impressed by the icon, as I infer they are called, which Nodbear has just let me know is available for any posts I might make ...as Lord S so often says i flatter myself - or rather the analogy does -
but goodness gracious - do they really need to label masts these days ? what sad times to be sure

with fondest greetings and to the cub .now all I need is to work out how I present the icon on the screen device ....
