Christmas came again today when the postman arrived with a veritable pile of cards and parcels. So many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kittycallum for the beautiful card (I want to visit Iceland even more than ever now), [livejournal.com profile] joyful_molly for the wonderful special edition of The Radiant Boy (I'll treasure it, I really will), [livejournal.com profile] volgivagant for daughter's pirate jigsaw (Arrrrr!) and the fabulous book of Naval Blunders (love that there is a whole chapter on Lunatic Admirals!) and [livejournal.com profile] amaraal for the weevils (not sure which one is the lesser yet as daughter has made off with both of them!) And as if that wasn't enough, [livejournal.com profile] esmerelda_t came round for tea and brought me a gorgeous print of an original Master and Margarita cover.

Thank you all so very, very much. I am well and truly spoilt :)

NAVAL BLUNDERS sounds fascinating. Speaking of Lunatic Admirals, I've just started reading the 4th PO'B book again. Jack and Stephen are conversing when Stephen mentions that a great percentage of folks in some little European village are idiots. Jack goes off, saying the same is true in England, and one only needs look to the Admiralty for proof.

Glad you had such a grand Christmas... and a second helping as well.

Ha! Can't argue with Jack ;)

The Book of Naval Blunders is by Geoffrey Rush, if you want to look it up.

Read the bit described above to a co-worker, and got great chuckles and belly shaking laughter from her.

My partner used to read out the funny bits when he was reading his way through the series. I'm half way through HMS Surprise and keep coming across bits that I've heard before! XD

We both love the presents! We might have a go at the jigsaw tomorrow :)

Glad you like the Sailor's Alphabet, we'll just overlook the fact that it's the other navy ;)

With both weevils? *snort* I hope she puts them neatly on a shelf. They are both actors!

'Lunatic Admirals' sounds exciting! Excerpts?

Have a nice Second Christmas!

The weevils have taken up residence with the other animals in a little box that she keeps them all in. She has also announced that she wants ten more animals for her birthday. I might be getting back to you about that one :}

I'll be happy to share the Lunatic Admirals just as soon as I get round to reading them!

Perfect! Name your price! She said she didn't mind what kind of animals they were, any kind will do :} Her birthday isn't until March so there's no hurry.
