Because it's ages since I've done a meme, I thought I'd play along with [livejournal.com profile] eglantine_br and [livejournal.com profile] charliecochrane's gratefulness meme. [livejournal.com profile] eglantine_br gave me the letter A, so without further ado...Reasons to be Grateful part A!

Aquarians - I'm sure I've mentioned this in a meme before...I pay absolutely no attention to astrology but I can't help noticing that the vast majority of my friends and partners have been born in February. In fact three of my partners have had birthdays on consecutive days! And of those friends who weren't born in February, most of the rest were born in January or March, with a few notable outliers in May and June. I have no idea if this is in anyway meaningful, but I do know that I am very grateful for Aquarians :)

Apples - I'm one of these people who tends to get vague, dizzy and keels over if I don't eat regularly so I always carry emergency apples in my bag. I am often very grateful indeed for having apples, particularly during interminable meetings.

I want to be Alone - Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting all Marlene Dietrich here. I like other people, I enjoy their company, but I soooo need time on my own, otherwise I turn into a right grumpy cow!

Archie - Of course. I wouldn't be here without Archie. Wouldn't have started writing. Wouldn't have ended up running [livejournal.com profile] following_sea. Wouldn't be writing a book about a ship and about men who I had never ever heard of three years ago but who I now know almost as well as my own family. And of course wouldn't have met so many amazingly creative friends from all walks of life, and all corners of the world. All down to Archie, and for that I am very, very grateful :)

Whatever made her choose the letter A?? I haven't got a clue!

I get the Alone thing. When I'm together with people for a day or longer, I have to seek refuge in solitude from time to time. It seems that the longer I have to talk, the more quickly I run out of things to say. :)

Heh, I don't think anyone has ever accused me of running out of things to say. Quite the opposite in fact XD I really do need time to decompress though.

It's probably because most people I meet don't care about the things I'm able to converse about. ;)

Would you like to skype again sometime soon? I won't complain about your verbosity. ;)

I confess! I hoped she would include Archie.(I thought she might.) And what a lovely picture of him.

I did not know about the apples. Sensible though. (You could always pack a turnip, if you wanted a change.)

You told me once quite absolutely that Archie was born in February It made me happy to think of a nice new baby coming to the Kennedy family in bleak old February. And it meant that his mom could curl up her shabby chair, once she got unwieldy, and read a book, or do a little light sewing. (Even the wealthy used baby clothes over and over.)

I understand alone too, I like to be alone outdoors especially.

****Changed it to Feb which is what I meant. Don't know why I wrote November.

How could I not have included Archie? I wouldn't be here without Archie :)

Ah but turnips need peeling. It's not se easy to whip out a turnip peeler in the middle of a meeting!

You told me once quite absolutely that Archie was born in February
Yep. 13th of February 1775.

I understand alone too, I like to be alone outdoors especially.
I like to be alone at the end of the night. I really appreciate some time alone before I turn in.

I like this meme! :) (Just saw Nodbear's post below about getting a letter -- I'd quite like one too, please!) And I suddenly feel very proud of my February birthday. Also, I completely agree on the apples front, they're truly wonderful things -- whether you're packing them as a safety measure or heading out apple-picking to celebrate autumn.

Archie of course is terribly important! :) Good choice, indeed!

Oooh I'd forgotten you were another February babe! See? Just goes to prove my point. Aquarians are the best :)

I am still rather astonished by apple trees. They don't grow in the Outer Hebrides, apart from the occasional crab apple, so I am still amazed to see apple trees growing all over the place down here. I really want to plant some in my garden.

Apple trees are the best! We've got one and in the spring it showers white petals, blowing all across the garden. The autumn is more dangerous as the wind shakes the apples from the branches and can cause genuine damage. ;)

If you want a letter you only have to ask my dear! You can have N :)

Now I am off to empty the entire contents of my bedroom, as we finally have decorators coming later in the week to get rid of the beige. Huzzah!
