Date: 2013-02-23 11:01 pm (UTC)I haven't read the Jane Austen and the Navy book but I've seen it referenced all over the place. Have you read it yourself?

Date: 2013-02-23 11:48 pm (UTC)The book is on my shelves and I read it. I don't quite know what to make of it, some of the chapters are very good essays on their own, sometimes I got the feeling of everything having been cobbled together. There is a lot of detailed research, but the author just "supposes". If you would like to read it, I'd be willing to send it over and you can return it when you like.
