Apologies for being a bit off the radar at the moment, RL is going through an awfully busy patch. I'm up to my eyes in conference presentations, abstracts and event planning. To say nothing of the tail end of the annual Aquarian and Piscean birthday extravaganza :) I'm away again next week but hopefully after that I'll have a bit more time to catch breath. In other news, winter has finally arrived in the West of Scotland and at last we have some snow! We seem to be the only place in the northern hemisphere that has avoided the snow so far this winter.

Damn abstract...

Horatio was struggling to get his abstract on
"Breeches vs Trowsers: A poststructural deconstruction of naval unmentionables"
down to three hundred words.

Poor Horatio, he was just in it for the research. He never actually wanted to write it!

Ever it was thus! I'm sure Archie agrees ;)

I think he's wroking out how he and Archie can construct an effective practical experiment on same.

I'm sure Horatio could get Archie out of his breeches in way less than 300 words ;)

'I was going to write hs essay on unmentionables. Then I realised they could not be mentioned. Logically I am obliged to stop.'

... this coming from one who has spent far too much time devising shortcuts to essays instead of writing the blasted things.

Your essays may be short but your logic is faultless! XD

Archie demonstrating that the research stage is Always more fun than the writing up stage ;)

but can't feel too sad about it when Horatio looks so pretty in his burning the midnight oil

Oh yes, Archie is most diligent in helping Horatio with his research....

Aw, no! If I'd known you wanted it, I'd gladly have given you all of our winter!

*sigh*

Daughter was delighted to finally have enough snow to make a snowman this morning :)
We've had a ridiculously mild winter compared to the rest of the country. Plenty of the usual grey skies and endless rain though!

It's all very well re-designting unmentionables as kecks but that's not going to help Horatio get his word count down. Or Archie's kecks.

Just imagine the footnotes!!

Never mind footnotes, do you think there'll be kneenotes?

There may be crackfic away to the NE. Not quite hull up. but I can see a bit of the mast, over the horizon. Kneenotes, maybe.

In other news-- have you seen the article about the statue of Pan getting it on with a goat?

Hee! Crackfic with knees! XD

I hadn't seen Pan and the goat but I have now. How splendid! I love classical porn :) We found a double phallic brooch on a Roman excavation I worked on once. It was a popular symbol worn by centurions. Of course it was worn with the phalluses pointing upwards but when we passed it on to the museum they photographed it upside down which made it look rather flaccid and sad!

They totally missed the point! Upgoing, they are so cheerful. There is nothing so optimistic as a dick. They are always hoping for the best, aren't they?

ROFL! Best LJ comment ever! XD Upgoing dicks are indeed the most cheerfully optimistic!

Talking of which, I have a little something to post later today which might make you smile ;)

Want more? You can have everything! Today I was taking snow pics again, and I'm fed up with winter for three next years, grr... Easter palms in fresh snow, I'd never thought I can see such view...

If you asked my daughter I think she would say "Yes please!" Yesterday's snow has all gone and our snowman is now looking rather forlorn at the end of our soggy garden :}
