In Bloom

When nodbear came up to visit at the end of August we went for a walk to the walled garden in the park near where I live and discovered the most stunning display of dahlias and sweet peas. I took lots of pictures at the time but, as is so often the case, I didn't get round to posting them. There was also a huge bed of chrysanthemums that hadn't yet flowered, so when nodear reminded me this week that they would probably be in bloom by now I went down and took some more pictures, so here you go, lots and lots of pretty flowers!

Ah, yes. *facepalm* Dew. Watery droplets on flowery petals are called 'dew'. See - I could have sworn you had been soooo brave taking pictures after an icy shower :) Now you spoilt it :) No offence.

Well to be fair, nine times out of ten it's more likely to be rain in Glasgow XD For once it was actually morning dew though!

Very lucky indeed! I live close to two lovely parks and they both have beautiful walled gardens :)

Lovely! I can almost hear the bees. But those purple ones are sweet peas? They are so flamboyant! The only sweet peas in my neighborhood are small, old-fashioned ones that grow wild, the ghosts of some long-gone farmhouse.

Yes, you're right, I forgot to mention the sweet peas! There were sweet pea trials planted down both sides of the central path, you can see the canes in the picture at the top. Some of them were magnificent, really big and blowsy

glad that I managged to think to mention the chrysanthemums - they are am important part of Autumn for me for various Proust type memory moments
and I have enjoyed them vicariously now - and as for the main display we saw it was one of the loveliest formal gardens I have seen in a very long time.
