The very thoughtful and moving comments you've posted on Recant brought to mind this quote from Karen Blixen:

“The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears, or the sea”

I always wanted to write a fic based on this, maybe I will one day. Then again maybe I don't need to. It seems to sum up Horatio and Archie's relationship perfectly as it is.

From wikipedia: Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke (17 April 1885 – 7 September 1962), née Karen Christenze Dinesen, was a Danish author also known under her pen name Isak Dinesen. She also wrote under the pen names Osceola and Pierre Andrézel. Blixen wrote works both in Danish and in English. She is best known, at least in English, for Out of Africa, her account of living in Kenya, and one of her stories, Babette's Feast, both of which have been adapted into highly acclaimed, Academy Award-winning motion pictures. Before the release of the first film, she was noted for her Seven Gothic Tales.

Oh, that is quite apt. The sea is a great cure, certainly ... the one Horatio seems to employ most often.
