Flying Visit

Just back from a flying visit to the Hebrides. Had a lovely wee break hanging out with family, playing with two outrageously spoilt Lhasa Apsos and cooing over a very sweet baby. Hope to catch up soon, in the meantime, here's a few pics.

Welcome back! The aerial photo is all sorts of awesome. O.O And that gate looks totally fairy tale. I'd love to have a walk there.

I was very naughty taking my phone out on the plane to take that photo. Promise you won't tell on me?! :} The gate is the gate lodge of Lews Castle which was built in 1847 by the opium baron Sir James Matheson. The castle was used as a barracks during the Second World War and as a college in the 1970's & 80's. It's been more or less derelict since then, but renovations finally started last year to build a new museum and conference centre. The Castle Grounds are one of the few areas on the island where trees grow so it's a popular area for walking. I spent a lot of time there when I was growing up! :)
