Hello *waves* Remember me?! Since the last time I posted I have... Flitted; all went incredibly smoothly, new house is fab, daughter adores the garden, huge pile of boxes is subsiding and I have unpacked my Hornblower dvds :) I'll post pics soon (of the garden, not the Hornblower dvds ;) Had three days of wall to wall meetings. Joy, not. Been to York; it's a long way for a day trip from Glasgow. Been ill; nothing serious, but yuk yuk yuk. Written some nonsense with nodbear, of which more later. Re-watched The Even Chance; what were they thinking of?! All those lingering glances are quite outrageous! Done a little bit of work on a Bush!fic, yes you read that right. And started on a surprisingly fluffy plot bunny, two angst free pages and counting :)

So, what have you guys been up to?!

Welcome back! I'm glad to hear the move went smoothly. Not much to report from my side of the country, other than that I have been watching lots of Sharpe and then reverting back to Hornblower when I need to watch something in bed. How thoughtful of the producers to have provided me with so many pretty boys in uniform!

Well, you know, if push came to shove I'd take Sharpie to bed with me, but Horatio and Archie are just that much more appealing (much as I enjoy Sean Bean). Plus I know them better, so I can just lie there and let the programme wash over me or skip to my favourite scenes and keep rewinding to watch them over and over again. Poor old Archie goes through the wringer more than once, you know me and h/c.

I don't think my DVD collection includes any steamy scenes with Horatio and Archie, but if I find some I'll let you know. Maybe there's an Easter egg... Failing that I might have another go at writing something vaguely steamy, I should have writing time this weekend and I do have a plot bunny or two...

Ah, that scene... there are few who do h/c as well as Archie. Loyalty to my early fandoms is screaming "Daniel Jackson" in my ear, but Archie is at least joint first if not the outright winner.

My plot bunnies are definitely steamy at the moment, although whether they'll sit still to let me write anything is another question - they are quite elusive little creatures.

Daniel Jackson of Stargate SG-1, a highly-whumped and pretty man who happens to be having hot steamy interludes with his commanding officer - one of my first fandoms - jack and Daniel are probably the closest thing I have to an OTP.

Wait, a Stargate conversation is going on? Involving Jack/Daniel? Yay! Uhm, haven't much to add to that ... but that was one of my first fandoms as well, and one of my first favourite pairings. There's just something about them that's irresistible.

Exactly. J/D is a very natural pairing, it fits perfectly with he way the characters are portrayed onscreen - it's not like one of those pairings where you have to shoehorn people together.

It still rather feels like we're just visiting here but we're all starting to settle in. Once we unpack the book boxes it'll really start to feel like home :)

I've been freaking out over my thesis, I'm getting nothing done, I've no idea what it's point is supposed to be and my boss' instructions are so cryptic my colleagues don't understand them, either. :( Furthermore, although it is the last thing I need right now, I seem to have stumbled into a new fandom. More of that later. :)

How does the new house feel?
Bigger, smaller, darker and lighter! Rooms are smaller but there are more of them, the house itself is darker than the flat but we have a big bright open garden. It's all very different, but different in a good way :)

And the Bush!fic! Is it smutty??

Several of my term papers came into being like that and I didn't always have a clear concept of where I was going when I started. Perhaps I shouldn't view this paper as something so very special that needs to be done in a wholly different way.

It is hellishly difficult, I find. I’ve been trying to think of a plausible, realistic scenario for Hornblower/Bush smut for months now, but the only things I can come up with that aren’t completely ooc are unfortunately also rather unsatisfying. :( Those two badly need couple therapy.
