It's like this you see..... it's no secret that I haven't read any Forester, and it's also no secret that I've been promising lots of lovely, lovely people round here that I will. Now I was pretty sure I'd be getting either Forester or O'Brian for Christmas and guess what? I got O'Brian :}

So not only have I still not read any CSF, I don't even own any! And I have a huge pile of other books to read: 5 naval history, 2 O'Brian, 2 Scottish history, Ursula Le Guin's new novel and a sadly neglected biography of Alan Turing. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to reading O'Brian but I so want to read CSF and I don't know anyone over at [livejournal.com profile] perfect_duet ;) *sigh* I shall just have to buy my own CSF and read it on the way to work!

Not only that but the plot bunnies are breading like, well bunnies, and more time seems to be taken up with writing than reading these days. And a simple little angst fic I was writing has suddenly sprouted a labyrinthine plot and I've written myself into a corner that I've been trying to get out of for several days.

Anyway, you didn't really want to know that did you? Thank goodness [livejournal.com profile] esmerelda_t is sending Bartholomew over to distract me. Better go and lock up the spirits and hide my shoes ;)

I still have the last few CSF book to read, I'm putting it off, cause then there'll be no new Hornblower at all for me and I'm worried the old git pops his clogs in the last book or something.

You realise you'll be slightly worried every time you see a spaniel coming towards you for the next week, don't you? :P

I suppose that's one way to look at it. If I never start reading CSF I'll never have to worry about end of series angst!

Aye but only if they're smelling of brandy ;)

That's precisely why I've held off reading the one last story that I have on pdf. I found it after years of thinking there was No More Hornblower, and now, I don't want to read it, because I don't want to go back to that sad feeling...

[livejournal.com profile] anteros_lmc, oh, you're going to have such a wonderful time with PO'B. *clutches hands* And I'm fairly sure we've lost you for about six months, because they sincerely are a whirlwind romance of a series ... I'm halfway through now and I'm already fearing the end. Have a brilliant time with them, what a great present!

In the meantime I hope the plot bunnies keep bothering you. :D

I'm so thrilled I have all this reading ahead! :D

they sincerely are a whirlwind romance
So if PO'B (I so love that you punctuate your TLAs ;) is a whirlwind romance, what's CSF??

what a great present
Aye and not only did I get the first two books, I also got a beautifully illustrated PO'B companion, the soundtrack and a cd of music mentioned in the series :)

hope the plot bunnies keep bothering you
