I'm back! I think...
Mar. 25th, 2011 06:20 pm...though after a 37 hour journey with only two one hour transfers I'm not quite sure where I am tbh! Actually the journey back was fine apart from the bit where poor daughter did a grand impersonation of Horatio being seasick at Spithead half way to Dubai. Ah the joys of parenting.
I am far too knackered to write anything sensible about the trip, so instead I'm going to tell you about what I watched on my flight because I'm sure you're all just dying to know. As I am a shallow fangirl I spent most of the journey watching Band of Brothers to catch Jamie Bamber's brief appearance. Actually I was so impressed with the series that I watched all ten episodes back to back, though I must admit I was somewhat shell shocked by the end. I couldn't help noting that once again Mr Bamber plays a lieutenant who is hampered by an unfit commanding officer who cracks under fire thus endangering the lives of his men. He must get terrible déjà vu. For once though he doesn't get shot, despite everyone else getting blown to pieces.
I also finally watched Inception but I'm afraid it didn't really engage me. I would probably give it a second chance though and I did have great fun spotting
_likimeya's icon shots!
Oh, and I also watched The Frogs And The Lobsters (again) and was amazed (yet again) at the sheer outrageous slashiness of it all.
I'm rather glad that's my kiwi family responsibilities fulfilled until the next time. Picturesque as the land of the long white cloud may be, I am very glad to be back on the big damp foggy island nor'nor'west of Ushant. Actually it's not damp and foggy here at all, it's a beautiful spring evening, the daffodils are out in my garden and there was a lovely nautical e-card from
nodbear welcoming me home :) I'll try and post some pics of of NZ at the weekend if I can find any that aren't of family and / or cows. Now I am going to have wine and fall asleep on the couch. Boy it's nice to be back!

Date: 2011-03-26 04:02 pm (UTC)How lovely to hear from you! Surely you jest though? While I understand that that Sir Edward's skills in animal husbandry may leave a little to be desired I simply can not believe that, after fathering six children, he still can not tell the difference between a bull and a cow?!
I remain as alwasy your fondest, etc, etc
Madam A
PS The charming Mr Kennedy sends his best regards and hopes you are not too troubled by visting middies.

I thank Mr Kennedy for his good wishes and assure him that he [and Mr Hornblower of course]are always a welcome sight.
have just heard that Madam Nodbear has made a discovery of another portrait of Edward so am off to see it before it gets posted on this fasicnating jourtnal.
yours affectionately and etc etc

Date: 2011-03-26 10:18 pm (UTC)Wise words indeed. One must always be on ones guard when promenading with charming French capitaines. Who knows where they might lead? ;)
Mr Kennedy adds that Mr Hornblower was also terribly tongue tied as a middy but as you can see he has since been cured of that particular affliction.
I shall await the publication of Madam N's latest portrait of dear Sir Edward with the greatest anticipation.
As ever your devoted etc, etc.

The portrait is rather a success - it should appear tomorrow as I understand it...
Good night

Well you'd have to be blind to miss that! The other bit I thought was particularly obvious was when it cuts straight from Horatio and Mariette snogging to Archie fretting on the bridge. Poor lamb, he deserves better.
