Arthur Wellesley wishes you
a very Happy Birthday from Glasgow!




This very impressive statue of the Duke of Wellington was errected in Glasgow in 1844. It stands out side what is now the Gallery of Modern Art and, as you can see, Arthur is adorned with his traditional Glasgow headgear. Wellington's traffic cone has now become so iconic that this image is used by the city for promotional purposes and it has also inspired all sorts of art works. After a good night out Wellington's trusty steed is often seen sporting his very own traffic cone too!

So latin_cat hope you have also had a good night, but I trust you won't come home with a traffic cone on your head! ;)

Thankee! :D (And I have him here wearing another sort of party hat.*g*) I had a nice time out, and no traffic cones were molested or misplaced in the course of the evening. At least not by us.
