Attention [livejournal.com profile] mylodon!!! All of our favourite things - Rugby players! On a tall ship! And look, the've got the Pro12 trophy too :) This is James Eddie (affectionately known as The Jedi) and Glasgow's latest Fijian, Junior Bulumakau showing off the new strip on the Glenlee. Wonder what Junior made of the location of his first photoshoot for the club? Glasgow have just signed him from the British Army... ;)

Hello peeps! Hope you're all well? I won't bore you with the tedious work crap that's been taking up all my time of late, instead have a look at this rather fabulous yooniform that I had to restrain myself from buying when it came up for auction in Glasgow this weekend.

peddie_1

The catalogue entry describes it as follows:

A Victorian mess uniform, John Dick Peddie MP with jacket and trousers with gold braid and buttons, including gilt mounted engraved blade dress sword marked LD Phillips & Co., George St. Hanover Square London. Property from a Stirlingshire Country House. Estimate: 200-400.

I could be wrong, but I think the John Dick Peddie it belonged to is actually more famous for being an architect rather than an MP, in which case I'm surprised it wasn't valued more highly. I know it's a bit later than the period I'm interested in but I still reckon it would have made a fabulous addition to my wardrobe, doncha think? :)

Happy Birthday my dear! I'm sorry this greeting will reach you rather late. I can barely keep up with all the birthdays in February :} I'll be popping a little parcel in the post tomorrow, but in the meantime, I hope you'll enjoy this little reminder of your trip to Glasgow. A x

The other day I finally, finally got round to unpacking all my books and putting them back into the book cases downstairs. At last the house is starting to feel like home again! Rediscovering books is always a great pleasure, especially when so many of them were gifts from dear friends. Even better, I was finally able to make use of the amazing birthday present I got from [livejournal.com profile] nodbear way back in July - a unique book plate designed just for me by a very talented artist. Isn't it fabulous?! All the elements that make up the design mean something specific to me. No prizes for guessing the name of the ship :) The map is of Lewis, the island where I was born and brought up and the fish represents Glasgow. There are lots of other little elements that mean something to me, but they're my seekrit ;)
