Earlier this week I waved cheerio to [livejournal.com profile] nodbear after a very industrious, if rather hectic visit. We managed to write the first draft of the seminar we're doing at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in May. 8000 words in 5 days. Not bad going! Of course some of it may be gibberish but we can edit it later :}

We also went for a walk up to the park beside where I live. The hyacinths were in bloom and smelled glorious, and the hellebores were stunning. Hellebores are rather shy retiring flowers, they hang their heads so modestly that it's hard to see their lovely colours, however we discovered that it I flipped the camera on my iphone round, we could photograph them from underneath. Ta da! Pretty no?

Good job! :)
And very nice photo as always. Blue sky and flower :) Hellebores have become very popular in my country during this 10 years and I can see them here and there ... but, no, I've never see these flowers from this direction. At first I had no idea what flower they are! XD

They do look very unusual from this angle don't they?! I planted some hellebore in my own garden last year, they are growing slowly and flowing, but they're not exactly thriving. I hope they'll be as splendid as the ones in the park one day!

Thank you m'dear! I'd never thought of flipping my phone camera over before to take pictures of upside down flowers! I'll be snapping all kinds of things from underneath now ;)

I have some snakes head fritillary just about to flower. Would it be uncouth to snap their underskirts?!

*le gasp!* They'll be surprised, for sure. They must be used to that everyone thinks they're sort of fairies' chessboard and hardly anything more, but come on, they have feelings too! They want to show their little hearts! :D

The fritillaries have proved to be uncommonly shy and retiring. Every time I have tried to snap their underskirts they shied away in a flutter of chequered petals. At last we reached a compromise and they allowed me to take their picture from a respectful distance.

That sky! And the flowers are so delicate-- and the trees in the background are like fireworks. Spring is explosions.

There's no filter on that picture, the sky really did look that blue! It was still bloody freezing though :}

Beautiful photo! My own hellebores are sadly bloomless. I suspect the deer ate the flowers (which is surprising because the species is touted as "deer resistant").

Alas my own hellebores are decidedly sulky. They did flower, btu they are so low to the ground only the slugs get a decent view of them!

the species is touted as "deer resistant"
I'm not sure any species is deer resistant!

Anteros-- Thank you so much, for making time to stop and talk with me-- especially as you were on deadline. That is stunningly fast writing, especially when you factor in other duties (which never stop,) and also research, wine, and giggling!
