Thank you all for the lovely birthday wishes! I had a fabulous day watching the Tall Ships Race Parade of Sail as all the boats sailed out of the Firth of Clyde.

Thanks to eglantine_br and esmerelda_t for the cards, _likimeya for the birthday candles (and for putting up with the postal clerk ;), joyful_molly for the very handsome monkey (!), esteven for my quill (and yes, I do hope we can meet up later this year!) and katriona_s for the wonderful artwork (never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine Archie would bring me a birthday cake :D And last but not least special thanks to nodbear for the ultimate AoS fangirl gift....

I haz a hammock!!!

    

And to go with my hammock I have a beautiful ticking pillow embroidered with an anchor and some lovely books to read in it. My hammock has already been a huge hit with daughter and partner, so much so, that I am lucky if I can get near the damn thing! As the weather round these parts tends to be somewhat inclement, and our cherry trees appear to be on their last legs, partner has bought me a hammock stand so I can hang it indoors. I had hoped to take a pic of the hammock on its new stand but partner dismantled it before I got a chance. Silly boy. I am now looking forward to many happy hours lazing in my hammock dreaming of navyboys :)

That looks very restful, a good place to read, and think. Your yard is so green and summery and peaceful.

I meant to do some writing today, and did not. It is beastly hot here. Maybe tomorrow I will have next chapter up, and you can read it in your new hammock!

The garden is indeed very green and summery and peaceful. Unfortunately what you can't tell form the picture is that the "grass" is almost entirely moss and the "shrubs" on the left are completely overgrown with brambles and horsetails! Maybe net year we'll managee to get it in order ;)

Good luck with the writing. If I don't have a chance to read your next chapter in the hammock under the cherry trees I will read it in the hammock by the beach!

It' is very comfortable and nodbear chose the colours specially! The garden is quite large but it is also a bit of a jungle, I fear we are fighting a loosing battle with the brambles!

Glad the hammock is getting fangirl approval - it is a Fair Trade hammock from out of the Traidcraft catlogue /website if anyone else fancies one = though suspect they are ceasing to stock them now for end of Summer in selling terms .
it does look like it did in my catalogue picture which is a relief !
realise have no hammock icons - mistake that - must do something about it !
